[news] Open-Agassi says he has no plans to retire
NEW YORK, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Andre Agassi has no plans to retire from tennis
after pushing Roger Federer hard before losing 6-3 2-6 7-6 6-1 in the U.S.
Open final on Sunday.
The 35-year-old has fielded numerous questions this year about his plans and
eyebrows were raised when he thanked the crowd for their support over his 20
consecutive years at the U.S. Open.
But at a news conference, he said he would continue to play.
"My intention is to keep working and keep doing what I am doing," Agassi
said. "The only thing better than the last 20 years (at the U.S. Open) will
be 21."
Agassi has won eight grand slam titles and is one of only five men to have
won all four grand slam events.
