Will the Stars Align for Andre? Not only has Agassi qualified for his 13th year-end Championships, it also has been 13 years since he last won the ATP Tour World Championships in Frankfurt. And, just for those who believe numbers have a significant influence on our lives ?the Tennis Masters Cup in Houston also will be Agassi's 13 th tournament of the year. While it's usually a number people of a superstitious nature tend to avoid, Agassi never has been one to go by the norm. Constantly finding ways to re-write the record books, the Las Vegas native pushed the limits even further in 2003, winning his eighth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, claiming a record 16 th Tennis Masters Series shield in Miami where he won for a unprecedented sixth time and becoming the oldest player to reach No. 1 in the ATP Entry Ranking after winning the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships in Houston in April. Having won four titles in the first four months of the year, Agassi made his best start to an ATP season, going 23-2 heading into Roland Garros, where it took an inspired performance by rising Argentine star Guillermo Coria in the quarterfinals to halt Agassi's charge for a second championship in Paris. Even Agassi was powerless to stop Mark Philippoussis' barrage of 46 aces during their epic fourth round battle at Wimbledon, and Juan Carlos Ferrero produced a performance worthy of his new No. 1 status to defeat Agassi in the semifinals at Flushing Meadows. Earlier this year, during the semifinals of the Stella Artois Championships at Queen's Club, London, Agassi returned Andy Roddick's record-equaling serve clocked at 149 MPH. 戦 guess that's a record as well then,Agassi commented afterwards with a flash of his famous smile. The birth of his and wife Stephanie Graf's baby daughter Jaz Elle on October 3 could also inspire Agassi, who last claimed the year-end Championship in 1990 when he defeated Stefan Edberg in Germany. While Agassi has been runner-up to long-time rival Pete Sampras in 1999 and to Gustavo Kuerten in Lisbon in 2000 since then, the title has proved elusive. As Agassi arrives in Houston, it might just be lucky 13 this year from http://www.masters-cup.com/ ---- 13對外國人而言真的是吉利的嗎 還是只有遇到禮拜五才不祥 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.160.134.42
