"I still make Kansas City my home in the offseason," Pujols said on Tuesday before opening a series with the Royals. "I come here to train and give clinics to kids around the area because I never had the opportunity in the Dominican to see a professional give a clinic. I know that's very important right now in this area, to try to help a bunch of kids out, to stay out of the streets. "So I have a heart for KC. I love this town. I still make it pretty much as my home. I love St. Louis, too. The two cities are pretty much the same, except we have the best fans in baseball [in St. Louis]." Pujols certainly enjoys hitting in Kauffman Stadium, where he had a .400 career average with seven home runs and 20 RBIs in 70 at-bats entering the game. He singled in his first at-bat on Tuesday. "I like to hit in any park," Pujols said. While the Cards won 42 of their first 68 games last year, they lost 33 of their first 60 this season. Despite their record, they were tied for second in the National League Central, only 5 1/2 games behind the Brewers. "It's been a tough season," Pujols said. "You look around, and when you have the talent we've got here, we knew there wasn't going to be that struggle all year that we were going through in early April. "It's still a long season. Obviously, our record is still below .500. We don't look at our record. We look at the positive thing we can take. Knowing that it is a long season, and hopefully if everybody gets hot at the right time and the pitchers execute their pitches when they need to, we're going to win some games. Every year this game is tough. It's not easy. We have six teams in our division, and they're playing tough. We're going to have some opportunity to hopefully catch up with them." The Cards field an experienced, playoff-tested team that should help them over a 162-game season. "You can say that, but that's not the attitude we take," Pujols said. "We know that everybody is equal. We were the world champions last year, but what about this year? This is a new year, and everybody starts from zero. Our goal hopefully is to give ourselves an opportunity to be in the World Series and postseason. It was a lot of fun last year. We're going to try to do our best to be there again." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.122.224.110
