The Angels' left-hander said he felt fine all afternoon, but began to feel
nauseous as he began his warmups in the bullpen. By the start of the second
inning, Washburn said, he was nearly overcome and had to throw up five times
to allow him to get as far as he did.
"I don't ever remember throwing up during a game," said Washburn, who
allowed two runs on six hits and a walk. The left-hander also struck out
four to pick up his third win in his last five starts.

At 88 pitches and physically spent, manager Mike Scioscia opted to rescue
his starter.
"Wash pitched terrific," Scioscia said. "His stamina might have been
affected, but he really threw the ball well."
"I thought I was going to die on the mound," Washburn said. "I just tried
to make pitches and use the defense. We have a great defense. It just worked
out, I guess."
