Twenty-two year-old Osmar Daniel Ferreyra has signed a contract with PSV.
The Argentinian midfielder will be on loan from CSKA Moscow for one season, with an option for yet another season. Negotiations were completed on Thursday afternoon.
Left footed
He was linked with PSV for some time by the international press, but the
green light for his transfer to PSV was not given before Thursday night.
Ferreyra is a left-footed player who can be played in several positions.
Earlier he was with River Plate in his native country before he was sold
him to the Russian top side.
Ferreyra did not get much playing time during his spell with CSKA,
although he was fielded in quite a few European games. The Argentinian
played for the national teams U20 and U23and is eager to continue his
career at PSV. He was chosen as one of the outstanding players at the
2003 World Cup U20, where Argentina reached the semi finals.
Medical
Ferreyra stayed in Eindhoven a few days this week, together with his
agent. He underwent a medical in Geldrop and visited the Eindhoven
Philips Stadium and the PSV Herdgang training ground. He also did some
house hunting. The final details of his move from CSKA Moscow were
completed on Thursday. The Argentinian will report for the first training
session of the new season on 7 July.
Latin players
With the arrival of Osmar Ferreyra, the number of Latin players at PSV
has again increased. After Farfan, Gomes, Alex, Robert and Vonlanthen
(Colombian by birth) Ferreyra will be the sixth South American player in
the service of PSV. Never before did an Argentinian play in Eindhoven.
Ferreyra himself announced he was delighted to have made a move to PSV.
He is looking forward to joining the first team squad of PSV head coach
Guus Hiddink. His first impression of the Eindhoven Philips Stadium and
the PSV training ground De Herdgang were favourable. "I can hardly wait
for the pres-season training sessions to begin”, the left footed player
told PSV Media.
