The Frenchman's future with The Gunners has been the subject of much speculation, with Spanish champions Barcelona looking set to test Arsenal's resolve by making a move for the former Monaco and Juventus hit-man in the summer. With 18 months still to run on his deal with the North Londoners, Henry has challenged The Gunners to match his sporting ambitions with regards to a new contract with the club. Both Henry and Arsenal have already opened discussions over a contract extension and Hill-Wood has announced that an offer of a very lucrative five-year deal is on the table for Henry to sign. "I know two things," Hill-Wood told the Daily Star. "One: we want him to stay. "Two: we have made him an absolutely fantastic offer. "I'm not going to say what it is, but I know it made me shudder. It's a lot of money. "It's for five years. Arsene Wenger thinks 'he's physically very capable' of playing for another five years. "Thierry says he wants to know if the club is ambitious. "We're spending ￡350 million on a new stadium and have just brought in three new players. That is not unambitious. "If he wants to go to Barcelona, or somewhere, there's absolutely nothing we can do, although someone will have to pay something to get him. "But we've made him very welcome and we've made him a very good offer, which is probably as good an offer as anybody in this country - maybe other than Chelsea - would make." Hill-Wood added that the club are in a transitional phase, though he insisted to having no regrets over selling former captain Patrick Vieira to Juventus last summer. With Wenger having moved to recruiting young talent during the January transfer window, Hill-Wood says they have taken a 'big gamble' by committing themselves to a ￡12 million deal for teenage starlet Theo Walcott from Southampton. The Highbury chief thinks London rivals Chelsea have helped inflate the valuation of the talented 16-year-old. "Chelsea have raised the bar," he said. "We discussed twice at board level and we said it was a totally ridiculous amount of money to pay for a 16-year-old. "Arsene's response was something along the lines of, 'I couldn't agree more'. "It's a big gamble, but he's got great talent. It's ￡5 million up front.
