Those strikers play quick combinations with Juan Roman Riquelme to try to get behind defences, so Kolo Toure and Philippe Senderos need to be aware of the danger. They struggled recently at Old Trafford when Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney raced off the shoulder of defenders and were not picked up, and must cope better with Villarreal's front two. They have to be in harmony and give extra cover to each other to snuff out the runners. （槍手必須要加強後防防守，潛艇會用里克梅爾與隊友的局部配合，試著把球導到兩個槍手中後衛身後。在對曼聯的比賽，兩個槍手中衛身後的空間常常被魯尼與范尼利用，且沒人能即時跟上。對潛艇的雙箭頭兩個槍手中衛必須改進這點，彼此掩護支援） One of the Spanish side's favourite moves is the classic training exercise of "up, back and through". The ball goes up to the feet of one of the strikers who has come short to get possession, is knocked back into the path of Riquelme and the playmaker then slides a pass through for the second striker. Forlan moves gracefully and rapidly and Toure will need to anticipate his runs when Riquelme looks set to strike the ball. Similarly, Senderos has to be ready to drop deep to win any race with Jose Mari if Forlan goes towards his midfield and plays a pass back to Riquelme. （西班牙球隊最喜歡的戰術練習之一就是所謂的"前-後-穿越"的進攻配合，當雙箭頭之一拿到球後，把球回導給像是里克梅爾這樣的攻擊中樞，里克梅爾再把球立即送到另一名箭頭的跑動路線上。Toure必須要能預測Forland的跑動，而森德羅斯也必須要能在里克梅爾踢球的那一剎那往後撤，且準備與Jose Mari一對一的決高下） A central defender needs to stick tight to the striker who moves back for possession to prevent them from turning and facing goal. The covering centre-half then has the option of stepping out when Riquelme hits the pass to try to play offside but, with the controversy about offside at the moment, I would be surprised if Arsene Wenger favoured that. （兩個中衛必須要緊密合作，一個中衛盯住回撤持球的對手前鋒，另一個中衛則也推前，好讓里克梅爾把球往前送的剎那，製造對手的越位，不過最近有關吹越位的尺度爭議不斷，槍手應該不會冒這個險） I expect Wenger will designate Gilberto Silva to handle Riquelme, who drifts to find space and is central to Villarreal's creative ideas. If Riquelme goes deep and tries to drag Gilberto into no man's land to stop him protecting the centre-backs, the Brazilian has to hold his ground. But from the middle third on he will need to go with the Argentinian. Juventus gambled with two strikers against Arsenal and struggled in central midfield as Wenger's clever positioning of Robert Pires dropping deep to support Cesc Fabregas and Gilberto left them outnumbered there. Both move forward easily and can manipulate the ball and cross well, and another strength is their heading. They knew that Arsenal's pace was key and if they allowed them room and space through the middle, they could sail past and attack their back-line. When they gathered possession, they found team-mates well with simple touches although Lehmann was rarely troubled. Arsenal made that pair work hard by opening up their back four and attempting to get Eboue` or Flamini into possession early. （Forlan與Jose Mari一直試著把自己的中場控球，這兩人一旦拿到球就用簡單的動作把球交給中場，即使如此萊曼並沒有感受到太大的威脅，而槍手的四個後衛也努力的試著拉開寬度，讓Eboue與Flamini可以早點拿到球） However, Sori'n and Senna never sacrificed their central positions, inviting Arsenal to have the ball wide rather than down central areas.
