The Czech Republic midfielder, who is expected to be a major star at the World Cup finals, had agreed a £7million move to the Spanish capital from Bundesliga team Borussia Dortmund, but Atletico now fear they may lose the player to Arsenal. Arsene Wenger is a long-time admirer of the attacking midfielder and has had the player watched all season. He is now ready to make a move and Rosicky, 25, would undoubtedly choose Arsenal above Atletico. But Wenger still risks losing Ashley Cole, who will go into this summer's World Cup with England, waiting on Real Madrid and Chelsea before his future at Arsenal is decided. England team-mate Sol Campbell's career at the club is also in the balance while Robert Pires is now hopeful he will secure a new two-year deal to stay at Arsenal. But even the news that Henry is not leaving will not necessarily be sufficient to persuade Cole to join his teammates at the new Emirates Stadium next season. Cole said: "Everyone keeps asking me the same question. I say I'm staying and then one paper says I'm leaving. I don't see the point in answering the same question every time. We're just going around in circles. What more can I say? "I've played my heart out for the club since I've been here. I've never said I was leaving. It's not down to me." Privately, the England left-back still feels the Arsenal board let him down for reporting him to the Premier League after he broke football rules last season by attending a business meeting with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon. Cole's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has requested a personal hearing from the Football Association after denying charges of breaching their rules. Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein is now trying to repair the damage with Barnett, having invited him on his private jet to attend Wednesday's Champions League final against Barcelona in Paris. But both Cole and Barnett still feel Arsenal initially reneged on a deal struck 18 months ago and exacerbated the situation by reporting the player to the Premier League, who fined Cole £75,000. Although Cole has two years remaining on his contract, much will depend on Real Madrid's election of a new club president on July 2. Uncertain futures for trio Only then will Real's new manager be confirmed, with England coach Sven Goran Eriksson a prime contender — which would increase Cole's chances of replacing the Brazil left-back, Roberto Carlos. He is expected to leave in the summer to play in Qatar. Ironically, Chelsea may return to Cole given the decline in form of Asier del Horno, who was bought when it became impossible to sign the Arsenal player last season. Cole is not the only Gunners player whose future is unclear. Pires is in talks this weekend to salvage his future at the club, with manager Arsene Wenger now considering breaking club policy and offering the 32-year-old a two-year extension. Pires has delayed the announcement of his proposed move to Villarreal in anticipation of some movement in Arsenal's position. Campbell, though, is still expected to press for a move abroad, despite his goal and return to form in the Champions League final. Unlike Pires, Cole and Campbell at least have the consolation of the World Cup to look forward to following Wednesday's crushing disappointment, and Cole believes that England can win the tournament. He said: "When you look around the squad, a lot of our players have won things and played in big games. Hopefully this season can be our season. "Of course I'm going to say that we can win it. I'm not going to say we'll lose it. If we stay together, keep everyone fit, hopefully Wayne Rooney can come back and we have a good chance." 沒錯,夏天快到了... -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 80.229.140.103
