Against Ajax at the weekend, to mark the first game at Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium, Bergkamp bade farewell to those who have supported him during 11 trophy-laden years in the capital. Van Persie is the man tipped to replace his Dutch compatriot as the deep lying forward behind Thierry Henry, with an impressive showing at the World Cup raising his stock further. The gifted 22-year-old has endured somewhat of a troubled time since his arrival in England but having put off-the-field problems behind him, he is now confident that he can make his mark next term as a regular in Arsene Wenger's first team. When evaluating the fine example set by Bergkamp's utmost professionalism, van Persie spoke with admiration and a desire to step-up to the task of replacing him.
