Theo Walcott could make his full debut for Arsenal in the club's
vital UEFA Champions League qualifier on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old forward was a surprise inclusion in England's squad
at this summer's World Cup, having never played a first team game for
his club.
But the youngster had made a big splash in The Championship for Southampton,
attracting the Gunners' gaze and securing him a big money move to Highbury
in January.
Though Walcott failed to make an impact at the international tournament
in Germany, Wenger could now look to the former Saint to step into the
breach, with Thierry Henry still recovering from his summer exertions.
"Theo is short of fitness at the moment," Wenger told The Sun.
"He was down physically and we've had to build him up, but I hope to give
him a run-out at Alkmaar and then we can see."
Arsenal face the Dutch side at the DSB Stadion on Friday in a friendly
before the vital clash against their Croatian opponents Dinamo Zagreb
just four days later, and Walcott will be anxious to prove his worth at
the club and stake a claim for a first team role this season.
