Beast in pole position
By Chris Stanton - Created on 10 Jan 2007
Carling Cup hero Julio Baptista believes he is ready to repay the faith of
manager Arsene Wenger after a stop-start career in North London.
'The Beast' scored four goals at Liverpool as The Gunners routed The Reds 6-3
in the League Cup on Tuesday in a rare but remarkable start for the powerful
Brazilian.
A niggling hamstring injury has not aided Baptista's acclimatisation
following his loan signing from Real Madrid, but the player believes he has
begun to benefit from playing in his best position of attacking midfield,
claiming he was misunderstood at Real.
"All I have needed is for a coach to give me four or five games in
succession, someone to play me in my best position and someone to show faith
in me," Baptista told the Evening Standard.
"Arsene Wenger has put so much confidence in me that I have been telling
friends for weeks now Arsenal is the club which will make me 'The Beast'
again.
"Compared to Arsenal it was as if Real Madrid did not know what to do with me.
"After how I played at Sevilla and how many goals I scored, I would have said
that most people know what my best position is. But the coach at Madrid did
not seem to see it.
"I have got this ability to arrive in the box at the right time, I have got a
nose for goals and I am powerful.
"Madrid used me where they had a slot, but at Arsenal it is like
rediscovering the form I had at Sevilla."
對照在Sevilla的成功以及在RM的失意
野獸認為自己最合適的位置是進攻中場
希望能被放在最適合他的位置讓他連續出賽個4~5場...來證明他的能力
"I have got this ability to arrive in the box at the right time, I have got a
nose for goals and I am powerful."
我喜歡他這段話
