在星期二晚從預備隊比賽退出後，科裡‧吉爾伯特租借至League One的Southend成疑。
20歲的後衛上賽季同樣被租借到Cardiff，他意識到在Southend一線隊的機會渺茫，9月8日
對Gillingham打了最後一場比賽。
他在對彼德堡的比賽打了22分鐘退場後與預備隊教練奧斯丁交流了幾句。
「我不想評論什麼」奧斯丁說，「有個情況需要他馬上處理」。

這位曾經在0506被亨利拉到場邊很靦腆的接受觀眾歡呼的小球員，已經跟槍手漸行漸遠，
從上賽季在Cardiff不服從紀律的行為就一直被詬病。
