She demanded hush money after contacting Emmanuel’s shocked mother Emolia in his native Togo. Although the giant African added to his goal tally against Fulham yesterday, the emotional turmoil caused by the accusations is said to have had an adverse effect on his performances. Emmanuel’s mother is reported to have been “torn apart” by the blackmailer ’s claims. The woman repeated her allegations in a radio interview in Togo heard by thousands of stunned listeners. She says Emmanuel, 24, was born in Ghana after she had a brief affair with his father, Adebayor Adei Sandraki, who died two years ago. He is known to have had four children by a different woman and did spend time in Ghana away from his wife when he crossed the border in search of work. But Emolia – who lives in a 12-bedroom mansion in Lome, the capital of Togo – bitterly denies the “painful” claims. She said: “The child I have given birth to, people are saying that he is not my child. “I suffered in looking after him after his father died. That useless woman – she has employed an agenda to discredit me.” The blackmailer – who refused to be identified during the radio interview – fled back to Ghana after Emolia threatened legal action. But the fall-out from the accusations appears to have had a devastating effect on Emmanuel’s game. In January he scored eight goals in just six games and sent Arsenal to the top of the Premier League. But the goals dried up and Arsenal’s title hopes finally vanished last Sunday when they were defeated by favourites Manchester United.
