Sport.co.uk can exclusively reveal that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reneged
at the eleventh hour on a deal to sign CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev
in the January transfer window. Sources close to the deal have revealed that
the French coach decided against signing the 24-year-old goalkeeper, in
favour of sticking with Spaniard Manuel Almunia and Pole Lukasz Fabianski,
