Igawa, who allowed five hits, four walks and four runs in seven innings for Scranton Sunday, probably will start either Friday or Saturday in Detroit. Darrell Rasner will start whichever game Igawa doesn't. "That's the way we're leaning, but we have until Friday," GM Brian Cashman said. "Rasner and (Igawa) have done the best there." "He's been throwing OK," added Joe Girardi. "Obviously, for Kei, it's important to attack the strike zone. His last start, he struggled a little bit, but he's had some pretty good starts." Igawa is 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA after his outing yesterday. Last year, he was 2-3 with a 6.25 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) for the Yanks.
