Top-tier tennis comes to Vietnam Open
HANOI, Vietnam (AP) -- The first international tennis tournament in Vietnam
began Monday with a ceremony featuring dance by women in traditional dress and
a loss by the host country's top player.
Do Minh Quan, a wild card playing before a home crowd, lost to Bjorn Phau of
Germany 6-3, 6-2 on indoor courts at the ATP Vietnam Open.
In another first-round match at Phu Tho Indoor Sports Complex, Lu Yen-hsun of
Taiwan defeated Antony Dupuis of France 6-1, 6-4.
