李娜選擇奧克蘭女網賽作2010年首站比賽
李娜避開了有Henin和Clijsters參加的布里斯班女網賽，
首度選擇在奧克蘭賽作為2010年賽季的第一站；
李娜也是現在暫時公佈的球員中唯一一位的Top 20球員。
ASB Classic organisers have snared their first world top-20 player for the
women's tennis tournament in Auckland in January.
Chinese world No 15 Li Na will make her first appearance in New Zealand and
is sure to be a feature act of the $US220,000 ($NZ298,345) tournament on
January 4-9.
The 27-year-old has won two Women's Tennis Association titles and reached the
semifinals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Li has had 14 wins over top-10 players, including Serena Williams when the
American was the top ranked player at the time.
Her best result this season was making the final of the Monterrey Open in
Mexico before losing to second seed Marion Bartoli, of France.
Classic tournament director Brenda Perry said she was continuing to target
other top-20 players for the tournament.
"It is great to have our first top-20 player confirmed and someone the New
Zealand public have not seen in this country before," Perry said.
"I'm confident there will be at least one other top-20 player to follow in
the next few weeks."
Other players already confirmed for the event include world No 22 and 2009
Classic finalist Elena Vesnina, of Russia, and the world No 1 doubles
combination and multiple Grand Slam title winners Cara Black, of Zimbabwe,
and American Liezel Huber.
