Suzuki named to Davis Cup team, Nishikori left out

The Japan Tennis Association on Tuesday named Takao Suzuki to Japan’s Davis
Cup team for next week’s match against the Philippines, but Kei Nishikori
was overlooked to allow him to make his way back from a lengthy spell on the
sidelines with an injured elbow.
The 20-year-old Nishikori, who has been away from the ATP Tour since March
last year because of his right elbow problem, is scheduled to make his
comeback this week in Florida at the Delray Beach Tournament, scene of his
first win on the tour in 2008. Tatsuma Ito, Go Soeda and Hiroki Kondo were
picked along with Suzuki to face the Philippines in the Asia/Oceania Group 1
first-round match at Namihaya Dome Sub Arena in Osaka from March 5-7.
