BEIJING, China - Li Na has been signed on to be an ambassador for world
famous ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs, it was announced on Tuesday at Hä
agen-Dazs in Beijing. It is believed to be the first athlete endorsement deal
for the premium ice cream maker. Among the perks of the deal, the No.7-ranked
Li will receive free ice cream at Häagen-Dazs stores all around the world.
In Melbourne this year, Li became the first Asian, male or female, ever to
reach a Grand Slam final (in singles). After the breakthrough result she rose
to a new career-high of No.7 in the world, which is the highest ranking ever
for a Chinese player in the history of the WTA and second-highest ever for
any Asian player (Japan's Kimiko Date-Krumm went as high as No.4 in the world
in the 1990s).
