Astros officially out of race for Peavy
太空人隊放棄取得Jake Peavy的競賽,因為General manager Ed Wade說太空人隊不是教士
隊的交易夥伴,而且Jake Peavy有很大的興趣加人太空人隊,就是General manager
Ed Wade的作為,使得太空人隊只好作罷,以下文章是在介紹太空人隊對此事的處理情形,
謝謝。

Astros officially out of race for Peavy
Wade says Houston not a good trade partner for San Diego
By Alyson Footer / MLB.com
HOUSTON -- The Astros were never more than a long shot to be the team that
eventually acquires Jake Peavy, but on Friday the Astros went on record to
say they're officially not in the picture.
General manager Ed Wade, who has a good relationship with Padres GM Kevin
Towers after working with him for two years before taking the Astros GM job,
spoke with Towers at the General Managers Meetings, but he never got to the
point where he felt a Peavy-to-Astros trade was a possibility.
"We talked early on, and he was candid in looking at our situation and our
system that we probably don't have the pieces to make it work," Wade said.
"He told me a few clubs he had pretty good fits with, and he said he's going
to pursue those. Based on the things I was hearing, I think it's probably
headed in one of those directions."
The Astros were one of five teams Peavy initially said he'd agree to be
traded to, but as Towers delves into more serious talks, it appears the
Braves, Cubs and Dodgers are the frontrunners to land the 27-year-old
right-hander.
Peavy expressed a specific interest in joining the Astros and his hunting
buddy Roy Oswalt, but at no point did the Astros ever have an inside track to
obtain the services of the former National League Cy Young Award winner.
Before Wade shot down the Peavy rumors for perhaps the final time later
Friday afternoon, club owner Drayton McLane, while attending a luncheon where
Commissioner Bud Selig was the keynote speaker, also dispelled the notion
that the Astros were legitimate players in the Peavy sweepstakes.
McLane cited an unreasonable wish list on the Padres' behalf and an
unwillingness for the Astros to part with such a large chunk of talent, but a
more accurate explanation is simply that the Astros don't have enough to
offer.
Hunter Pence likely would have been in any package the Astros could send to
San Diego, along with one or more components of a trio of young pitchers who
figure to have big league futures: Bud Norris, Sergio Perez and Brad James.
But to put it in simpler terms, the players the Astros can dangle in a trade
proposal just didn't entice the Padres brass. Other teams, however, appear to
match up well.
"I think there's a good chance [Peavy is] going to end up someplace sooner
rather than later," Wade said.
