趁有空先貼出來 很長都英文 有興趣慢慢服用 如果有簽下來過陣子有空再慢慢翻 Jiovanni Mier Pos. B-T HT WT HS Hometown Commitment Birthday SS R-R 6-0 175 Bonita Pomona, Calif. USC 8/26/1990 BA scouting report Mier is supported by a large and enthusiastic family. At the 2008 Aflac Classic they made up a sizeable cheering section, complete with artfully constructed banners and signs. His mother Leticia is a fixture at his games, with her ever-present video camera, and has seen plenty of highlights this year. Mier is the rare prep shortstop who projects to remain at that position in pro ball. He has above-average speed and a powerful arm that grades out to well-above-average. He occasionally pitches for his high school squad, and scouts have gunned his fastball in the 91-93 mph range. He has an athletic and projectable 6-foot-2 170-pound frame. Mier has decent hands, though his actions need to be smoother, which should come with experience. He has been inconsistent with the bat, struggling last summer during showcases but looking sensational last fall at the World Wood Bat Championship and the Southern California scout ball all-star game. Overstriding threw off his timing earlier in the spring, but of late he shortened his stride, though he still has a tendency to lunge at the ball and get his weight out on his front leg. When Mier squares a pitch up, the ball flies off his bat. He has the natural quickness and hand-eye coordination to be an excellent hitter. He projects as a line-drive singles and doubles hitter, with slightly below-average power. PG scouting report (3/1): Mier is one of the rare three-sport athletes with legit Division I potential in each-the twist being that the three sports are baseball, football and soccer. That unusual combination is possible in California as soccer is played in that state during the winter months. Mier excelled at cornerback and wide receiver as a junior, but decided against playing football as a senior to focus on baseball-a decision that made a pronounced and immediate impact on his rapidly-developing baseball career. He was the dominant player last October on the talent-rich ABD Bulldogs team from California that won the World Wood Bat Association fall championship in Jupiter, Fla., and it was easy to see there that he'd elevated his game, both offensively and defensively, from even the summer and also his junior year at Bonita High, where he hit .479-3-30 with 15 stolen bases. Mier is a slender and graceful athlete who plays the game with easy actions and excellent balance. He has pure shortstop tools, with his ability to make strong, accurate throws with a quick release being he best defensive attribute. His arm strength enables him to pitch on occasion, and he was expected to see significant service on the mound as a senior. Offensively, Mier has a line-drive type swing with an early weight shift to his front side and very good bat speed. He has gap power and impressed scouts by pulling several balls hard in Jupiter. His offensive potential will keep improving as he gets stronger. Mier is a solid student of the game and comes from a baseball family as his brother, Jessie, is a pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. -DAVID RAWNSLEY UPDATE (5/15): Mier had a steady if not mostly unspectacular spring, hitting .400-4-17 with 16 steals while going 1-0 with three saves for one of the better high-school teams in Southern California. But that's largely the type of player that Mier is at this point in his blossoming baseball career. His fielding at shortstop was outstanding, and he showed off his superior arm strength by throwing up to 93 mph off the mound as his team's closer. Mier has the type of athletic ability and projection, along with a mature understanding of the game, that should allow him to quickly adapt to each new level of the game as he moves up the minor-league ladder, and the game gets faster. Mier's name is mentioned in first-round draft discussions and he's rarely brought up later than the sandwich round. He is one of those rare high-school players who is looked at as a relatively-conservative "sure-thing" type of draft. -DR Baseballbeginnings scouting report PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Medium build, lean, rangy, yet to physically mature. STRENGTHS: Rangy, athletic, above-average defensive SS, soft hands, good reflexes, quick feet, good footwork and instincts, nose for the ball. Short stride, compact swing, inside-out SA (straightaway) approach, line drive hitter who will put the ball in play. WEAKNESSES: Below-average strength, arm can occ. (occasionally) be inaccurate, can be too pull-oriented - all correctable. SUMMARY: Gifted defender who can stay at SS at advanced levels. Former soccer player with outstanding footwork.
