Porter: 'He's growing up before our eyes'
The last time Bud Norris took the mound, he drew praise from manager Bo
Porter for his toughness and competitive spirit in a loss to Oakland. After
Friday’s win over the Los Angeles Angels, Norris put it all together and
came away with a win.
Norris went seven innings for the Astros, holding the Angels scoreless,
allowing three hits and striking out five.
“This guy is a No. 1 starter,” Porter said after the game. “He’s pitched
a lot of big games. He’s growing up in front of our eyes and it’s a
pleasure to see.”
For the second time in three of Norris’ starts the Astros staked him out to
an early lead, and for the second time, Norris made it stand up, earning his
second win of the season.
“It’s great to get those runs,” Norris said.
With the seven shutout innings, Norris also lowered his ERA to 1.96.
