Manzano makes Atletico pledge (PA) Friday 10 June 2011 Gregorio Manzano today vowed not to "cheat or disappoint" the Atletico Madrid fans after being unveiled as the new Vicente Calderon chief for a second time. Manzano, who also led the club for a season in 2003/04, signed a one-year deal on Wednesday and at his presentation to the media this afternoon outlined his intention to build a squad of "young, hungry players". He said: "It will be a strong Atletico Madrid and we will try to play, within our possibilities, good football. It will be an Atletico Madrid built around young, hungry players. "The basic idea is that we will have young players accompanied by some more experienced figures. I believe in myself, I believe in my work and I believe in the squad. I ask the fans to trust me. Gregorio Manzano, Atletico Madrid coach Atletico finished seventh last season, qualifying as a result for the UEFA Europa League, and Manzano is optimistic that position can be improved in 2011/12. One of Manzano's first tasks will be to cope with the expected departure of Sergio Aguero, who has expressed his desire to leave Atletico.
