Trail Blazers Exercise Third-Year Options on Jack and Webster
The Portland Trail Blazers have exercised third-year options on the contracts
of guards Jarrett Jack and Martell Webster, the club announced Monday.
Jack, 23, led the team in games played with 79 in his rookie 2005-06 season,
averaging 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists on the year. The Georgia
Tech product was originally selected by Denver with the 22nd pick overall in
the 2005 NBA Draft before being acquired by Portland in a draft-day trade.
Webster, 19, was selected by the Trail Blazers with the sixth pick overall in
the 2005 NBA Draft out of Seattle Prep High School. In his rookie NBA season,
Webster posted 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 17.5 minutes in 61 games (18
starts).
The extensions keep Jack and Webster under contract through the 2007-08
season.
