Pre-game: Roy will miss trip
Rookie guard Brandon Roy will not be making the six-game road trip that
begins next week, the team decided Friday. That was the bad news for the
Blazers. The good news is that Roy removed the boot he has been wearing for
more than three weeks.
"There's really not a lot of change," McMillan said of the MRI on Roy's heel,
which has kept him out of 11games, including the last 10.
The team decided that Roy would be better off remaining in Portland instead
of going on the nine-day trip.
"They want him to go through a week of low-impact workouts, use the pool, the
treadmill," McMillan said. "Once we come back off this road trip, then they
will re-evaluate him again as far as how much more they will allow him to do."
That means the earliest Roy could play is Dec. 15, when the Blazers return
home to play the Clipers, at which point he will have missed 19 games.
