Roy wins Rookie of the Month, again

Blazer's management might be in limbo, but one that has stayed constant is
that Brandon Roy is kicking the junk out of his rookie competition. Case in
point: Roy has earned Western Conference Rookie of the Month honors for the
second consecutive month. From the Blazer press release:
Portland Trail Blazers rookie guard Brandon Roy was named the NBA's Western
Conference Rookie of the Month for February, it was announced today.
Roy, who won the award for the second consecutive month, averaged 17.2
points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.09 steals in 11 games (11 starts)
during February. The 6-6 guard from the University of Washington shot .453
percent from the field and .764 percent from the free throw line.
The month featured three performances of 20-plus points for Roy, including
two games with 27 points (Feb. 6 vs. Phoenix and Feb. 20 vs. Utah). He also
recorded his third career double-double with 22 points and 11 assists in an
overtime loss at Denver Feb. 2.
The sixth overall selection in the 2006 NBA Draft, Roy leads all rookies with
15.6 points, 3.7 assists and 34.3 minutes; he is tied for No. 5 alongside
teammate LaMarcus Aldridge with 4.0 rebounds; and tied for second with 1.24
steals per game. He has played in 38 games, 36 of those as a starter.
