Blazers Will Pursue Rashard Lewis and Steve Blake 23rd April, 2007 - 12:04 pm Oregonian - Unless the Blazers land a high enough pick to draft Texas forward Kevin Durant, the team probably will have to fulfill its needs at small forward and point guard through a trade or free agency. The Blazers can't negotiate or talk about free agents until July 1, but indications are they will pursue Seattle small forward Rashard Lewis and Denver point guard Steve Blake -- a former Blazers player who still resides in Portland. Pritchard said two offseason priorities will be landing a prolific starting small forward and an experienced point guard to add depth. He also hinted that a big man probably will fit into the equation. How the Blazers will accomplish those goals is unclear, in part because they won't find out their draft position until the May 22 lottery. The Blazers (32-50) tied Minnesota for the sixth-worst record in the NBA, giving them a 5.3 percent chance to land the top pick. "The thing to keep in mind is that everything starts with the draft," Pritchard said. "Everything else flows from there." Outlaw is a restricted free agent, meaning the Blazers will have the right to match any offer other teams make to him. In the past, San Antonio, Milwaukee and Charlotte have shown interest in Outlaw, and early indications are that Phoenix and Denver are among the teams that will pursue him this summer.
