James Jones out until after All Star break Posted by Jason Quick February 04, 2008 18:02PM Categories: Team News Trail Blazers sharp-shooter James Jones will be shelved for the next two weeks because of persistent pain in his left knee. Jones, who missed 12 of the season's first 15 games because of the same knee, has been struggling on the court in the past four games, making just 5-of-22 shots, including 2-for-12 from three-point range. He is expected to miss at least six games, and won't be considered to return until the Feb. 19 home game against Sacramento. "He's pretty sore. "They are telling us he needs rest,'' coach Nate McMillan said. Jones who spent much of the past month as the NBA's top three-point shooter, has slipped to 48.3 percent, dropping him behind Toronto's Jason Kapono (51.0 percent) and into a tie for second with Toronto's Anthony Parker. For the season, Jones is averaging 9.1 points in 23.2 minutes a game. McMillan said Jones' absence will mean more playing time for starter Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw and Brandon Roy.
