原文:http://0rz.tw/3f4pz Rob Oller commentary: Oden still possesses unspoiled personality By Rob Oller Basketball is full of big players. It needs more big kids like Greg Oden -- athletes who are childlike, not childish. Big difference. A child marvels at the wonders of the world. Shows off one minute and turns painfully shy the next. Doesn't consider himself so big, status-wise, that a small and simple life is something to be shunned. 籃球這運動是給長人玩的啦,小孩子閃邊去 That is Oden, a little boy inside a 7-foot body. He holds an endearing 11-year-old's outlook expressed through the face of a 35-year-old who actually is 20. Greg Olden the Young'en. 所以像Oden完全符合這個條件,他夠且夠 The Portland Trailblazers center currently is back on Ohio State's campus, living with Mike Conley Jr., attending summer classes and looking forward to working with actual kids as part of the Old Spice Buckeye Stars basketball camp for ages 7-18 at Worthington Kilbourne on July 29-31. Two other former Buckeyes teammates, Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook, will join Oden at the camp. Oden跑回家鄉去跟Conley等前隊友喇低賽去了 "I've got a little kid heart sometimes," Oden said last week after working out in the Schottenstein Center, where he trains four days a week with a Blazers trainer flown in weekly from Portland. "I still have a good connection with kids. Sometimes I really know what they're thinking." Oden雖然老但卻有顆赤子之心 We can know what Oden is thinking, too. Part of his charm is his willingness to show his silly side. His sentimental side. His stupid side. His strong side. Like most kids, he is refreshingly honest and surprisingly, given his size, only slightly self-conscious. And he remains star-struck, even though he's the biggest, or at least tallest star in Portland and Columbus. 所以Oden很小孩子氣地想展示他有多麼棒 Two anecdotes highlight how Oden is unhardened by his own fame. In June, Oden attended a Kanye West/Rihanna concert in Portland, where he met Rihanna after the show. (Oden, while down to earth, concedes that celebrity perks do not suck.) The introduction blew Oden away, considering he has a major crush on the R&B star and model. The big guy approached her with all kinds of killer one-liners in mind but froze up. All he managed to get out was "Um, who are you?" (又是一段荒唐胡塗帳) "I was trying to be funny. It didn't work," he said, admitting that her beauty turned him to mush. At Easter, Oden visited the home of Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen, who made his money as co-founder of Microsoft. The mansion includes full basketball and tennis courts as well as a locker room larger than what the Blazers use in the Rose Garden. Oden乖乖地去拜訪老闆大人 "This is all in his house," Oden wrote on his personal blog, which sheds light on his amiable personality. "You know the difference between millionaires and billionaires after being at his house." 他發現百萬富翁和億萬富翁的差距 Oden is among the former, having signed for about $8 million over two years with the Blazers. Set for life, yet he never hesitated when considering whether to return to OSU to earn a degree. Two reasons: He promised his mother he would finish his college education, and he loves the college experience, admitting there were times last season when the relative simplicity of college sounded good compared with the real world of the NBA. That's not to say he regrets his decision to leave college after his freshman season. As the No. 1 pick in the draft, most anyone can see the decision was a no-brainer. It's just that the NBA is for men and college is for, well, kids. Oden還是會努力把大學文憑拿到手 Plus, strolling the OSU campus with other students helps Oden feel like a regular guy. That will change. This summer is the lull before the storm, before Oden opens the next NBA season banging bodies on the court instead of rehabilitating in the training room. His knee has healed and strengthened since the microfracture surgery that made him miss his entire rookie season. Now, it's a matter of doing instead of watching. 休養一季之後,Oden大爺放話準備好好證明自己了 "It was a good learning experience last season, but I know it will be different when I actually go through it," he said. As he moves from fun-loving rookie into the paint of the NBA, where players don't just look 35, they are 35, here's hoping the league doesn't drain Oden of his playful spirit. 除了笑話一下,希望大家也注意35歲的Oden實力 We need more fun and less gravity in sports. Not to mention I hear Rihanna likes men who don't take themselves too seriously.
