1 - What are your thoughts on the recently announced training camp roster? Quick's take: "I think the real sleeper in the free agent roster is Mamadou N'Diaye." 2 - Why are the Blazers inviting so many older players to camp instead of young players from Europe, the CBA or the NBDL? Quick's take: "Initially, I think they want some experience to fill those roster spots." 3 - Do the Blazers have any interest in free agents like Predrag Drobniak? Quick's take: "The Blazers were very close to signing Drobniak...Paul Allen, from what I hear, vetoed the picking up Drobniak. It looks like the Blazers are going 'Cheap Charlie'." 4 - What about the Mark Jackson-to-Portland rumors? Quick's take:"I don't think there is any way ever that Mark Jackson will play for a team coached by Mo Cheeks." 5 - Are the moves to bring back Bill Schonely and Jerome Kersey pure PR moves to help increase season ticket sales? Quick's take: "I think it's very transparent what they've done with Schonely and Jerome Kersey. I don't think this is what Blazers fans envisioned when (management) talked about a summer of change." 6 - Is Schonely disappointed in his limited role (no play-by-play duties) with the team? Quick's take:"I think he is past his prime as far as doing play-by-play at the NBA level." 7 - Any truth to the rumors of a three-way trade involving Portland, New Jersey and Memphis? Quick's take:"I heard Paul Allen shot down that deal because of Antonio Davis being included in that. I think Antonio has three years left on his contract and I think he's in the double-digit (salary) range." 8 - Ruben Patterson for Cleveland's Chris Mihm? Quick's take:"I don't think there is much interest for Ruben around the NBA." 9 - Are the Blazers smart to let contracts expire, or should they be willing to trade guys like Wallace, even if they don't get 'equal value' in return? Quick's take: "I still believe they needed to make trades, even if they weren't getting fair value." 10 - Any chance the Blazers let Wallace walk when his contract expires next season? Quick's take: "I think that's a very, very strong possibility." 11 - Are the Blazers cutting payroll at the expense of character and competitiveness? Quick's take: "No, but I do agree that cutting payroll is job No. 1." 12 - Is Paul Allen cleaning the franchise up for eventual sale? Quick's take:"I don't think so. I think Paul is still very committed to being an NBA owner." 13 - Do the Blazers have the talent and depth to emerge as a contender once the playoffs roll around? Quick's take: "I think they'll be a six, seven or eight (seed in the playoff seeding) and I see another first-round ouster." 14 - What is the status of Damon Stoudamire? Quick's take: "I hear from people close to Damon that he is going to offer to be (drug) tested at any time by the NBA this year. From what I hear, the Blazers are very happy with the steps he's taken and from what they're hearing from him right now." 15 - Has Wallace really been working out during the offseason?
