Blazers Chat with Jason Quick
Oct. 16, 2003
Jason Quick joined us on Thursday, Oct. 16 to answer fan
questions about fall camp, Rasheed Wallace's contract drive,
Mo Cheeks' future in Portland and more.
Clip 1 - Update on Paul Allen's visit to Portland:
Quick's take: "He wants to become more accessible to the fans.
Contrary to some reports, he has never shot down a trade this
summer for the Blazers."
Clip 2 - Has the first summer of the new Blazers' regime been
a failure? What's the plan?
Quick's take: "Yes, I would agree that this has been a disappointing
summer after all the promises that there would be change..."
Clip 3 - Will the Blazers be better or worse than last year's
50-32 team?
Quick's take: "I think they'll be in the mid-to-high 40s in
wins. I don't think this team got any better. I don't think
it got any worse, though."
Clip 4 - Addition by subtraction? Will the Blazers' thinner
roster actually work to their advantage?
Quick's take: "Clearly the rotation will be shorter by two
people this year. It will afford guys like Bonzi and Rasheed
(the chance) to play more significant minutes and assume more
significant roles."
Clip 5 - Why press Wallace into a leadership role when he's
not one by nature?
Quick's take: "There almost seems to be a fear factor on the
team that nobody will step up and say anything to this guy,
you know, challenge him or admonish him in any way. So in
that regard, he has become the leader."
Clip 6 - Is Wallace happy playing the small forward position?
Quick's take: "I think he really does like playing small forward
at times. I think this is going to be a season where you see
maybe two or three different starting lineups..."
Clip 7 - Will the Blazers take advantage of size mismatches
when they start their "big" lineup?
Quick's take: "The Blazers probably have the lowest court IQ
of any team in the NBA."(感覺答非所問-_- )
Clip 8 - Are the Blazers interested in locking up Mo Cheeks
to a long-term contract?
Quick's take: "(Management) just wants to let things play out.
I don't think Maurice is in any danger of leaving, even though
I still think the Philadelphia incident rubbed him wrong."
(莫老大不要走啦!)
Clip 9 - What will Derek Anderson's role on the team be?
Quick's take: "I think this team has become less enamored with
Derek since they got him."
Clip 10 - What is the missing ingredient that Blazers need
to make it past the first round of the playoffs?
Quick's take: "1) Immediately, this team has a very big problem
at center. 2) (Rasheed Wallace) has got to assume the responsibility
of being "the man" for this team."
Clip 11 - How are Zach Randolph and Ruben Patterson getting along?
Quick's take: "Surprisingly, there's been nothing to indicate
there's a problem."(甘有影嘸?-_- )
