The Greece international (38 caps) has agreed to join BVB on a five-year contract until 30 June 2018. "We are delighted that Sokratis has decided to join Borussia Dortmund. He is a flexible player capable to play in a variety of positions in defence who we believe has tremendous potential," said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc. "Sokratis" joined Bremen from Italian side FC Genua in 2009. In his two seasons with the German club, the defensive specialist made 59 appearances in the Bundesliga (two goals) and two in the German Cup competition. "I gained a lot from my two years with Werder but now I feel ready to make the next step," said "Sokratis".
