Here is the 10/14 update on the Top 3 NPB names this offseason—Munetaka Murakam

The Mets, Red Sox, Rangers, Mariners, and Giants have strong interest. The Yanke
es and Dodgers do not have the same level of interest in Murakami as per a few s
ources. Both teams could be sitting this one out and chasing better fits for the
ir roster than the star brand.

Murakami does have a West Coast preference and he is willing to play on the East
Coast for a team like the Yankees. With his teams narrowing a bit, we could see
the number of teams he is willing to play for expanding.

A few sources have said that the Giants have an edge for Murakami during the ear
ly part of the year, and that still remains like a likely destination.

in Okamoto this year and in past seasons.

We’re estimating between 50-75 million with the potential of that number going

We heard this morning from an NPB source that the Yankees are interested in Tats
uya Imai. We have also heard that the Lions are leaning towards posting him this
offseason—that’s new since we have heard that they weren’t that open to it i
n recent weeks. The Lions are known to make odd decisions so it’s really a wait
and see with them.

The Padres are favorites for Imai as of now and the Yankees interest could just
be them feeling things out on the market—they do show interest in players they
do not plan to sign from Japan often.

own to Imai or Okamoto. Imai will likely net a deal between 150-200 million.
