大聯盟發言人針對前面那篇工會初步提案的回應「我們很感謝球員工會提出一系列方案，並期待能繼續協商程序，努力解決球迷一直以來反映需要處理的競爭平衡問題。我們理解他們的提案是為了讓球員受益。但很遺憾的是，這些提案不僅沒有解決競爭平衡問題，反而使其更加惡化。球員工會的提案將減少對低收入球隊的資金轉移、削弱競爭平衡稅（豪華稅）制度，導致比目前更嚴重的薪資差距。舉例來說，在工會的提案下，道奇隊繳納的豪華稅將減少，從而讓他們額外增加7,000萬美元用於球員薪資支出。」 MLB response: ‘We appreciate the union making a set of proposals and we look fo rward to continuing the bargaining process and working towards solving the compe titive balance problem our fans are telling us needs to be addressed. We underst and their proposals are designed to benefit players. Unfortunately, they do not address and in fact exacerbate the competitive balance problem our fans are tel ling us we must address. The MLBPA’s proposal would reduce the amount transferr ed to lower-revenue Clubs, weaken the Competitive Balance Tax, and leadto even more payroll disparity than exists today.
