LA Galaxy head coach Frank Yallop today said that midfielder
David Beckham will be available for selection for tomorrow
night's game against the New York Red Bulls. The Galaxy host
the Red Bulls at The Home Depot Center in a match in which
the Galaxy need to earn at least a draw to keep their postseason
hopes alive heading into Sunday's season finale in Chicago.
Thursday night's match, which is the Galaxy's final home game
of the 2007 regular season, kicks off at 8 p.m. and can be seen
live on ESPN2.
"David has trained with the club all week and he will be
available for selection on Thursday night," Yallop said.
Beckham last played for the Galaxy on August 29 when he
suffered a right knee sprain in the first half of the SuperLiga
Final against Pachuca at The Home Depot Center. Since being
introduced as a Galaxy player on July 13, Beckham has appeared
in six games, making four starts, while scoring one goal and
adding three assists in 306 minutes of action.
The Galaxy have won five straight matches heading into Thursday
night's game against New York. With two wins in their final
two games of the season the Galaxy will assure themselves of
a postseason berth, while the club could also qualify for the
playoffs with a win and a draw in their final two games.
