New deal for defender
ROVERS defender Zurab Khizanishvili has signed a new deal with the Ewood Park
club.
The Georgian international has penned a new deal that sees him contracted to
Rovers until the summer of 2011.
Khizanishvili initially arrived on a season-long loan from Scottish club
Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2005, but manager Mark Hughes quickly liked
what he saw and made the deal permanent with Zura signing a three-year deal.
Despite not featuring as often as he would have liked in the last 12 months,
the Georgian captain had no hesitation in putting pen to paper on a new
three-year deal today.

Hughes delight at Zura deal
MARK Hughes has spoken of his delight to have secured the services of
defender Zurab Khizanishvili for another three years.
The Georgian captain, who arrived at Ewood Park from Glasgow Rangers on an
initial season-long loan in August 2005, committed his future to the club
this week, by extending his current deal until June 2011.
The Rovers boss said: "It's important to keep players like Zurab in the club.
"He's at a decent age - despite his looks! - he's got good experience at this
level, he's an international captain and he's a good technical footballer, so
we're delighted that he's going to be here for the next few years."
