The Rovers left-back made his first senior appearance for Fabio Capello's side as a late substitute in England's 3-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago last weekend, but there was a concern that the match may have been scrubbed from the record books. Warnock was the seventh substitute on the night for England, and according to reports has upset ruling body Fifa as the rules for international friendlies allow just six changes in a game. However it has been confirmed this morning that after a Fifa investigation, it was decided it was an error on the part of the referee. A statement this morning read: "Fifa can confirm it did not give special dispensation to make up to seven substitutions at the Trinidad and Tobago v England friendly match played on Sunday, 1 June 2008. "The referee of this match confirmed to Fifa that he received no instruction to allow for such a special dispensation, but that it had been a mistake by the referee.
