BLACKBURN Rovers will kick-off the new Barclays Premier League season away from
home for the fourth year in succession.
Rovers' opening game of the 2008-09 campaign will be against David Moyes'
Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday August 16.
Rovers' first home game comes seven days later against newly-promoted Hull
City, who are playing in the Premier League for the first time in their history
following last month's Play-Off Final victory over Bristol City.
The way the fixtures have worked out, Rovers will play all of last season's top
four at Ewood Park before Christmas, with the game against Champions Manchester
United scheduled for Saturday October 4.
Rovers are away to Sunderland on Boxing Day (Friday December 26), before coming
up against former manager Mark Hughes' Manchester City for the first time at
Ewood two days later.
There are no games on either New Year's Eve or New Year's Day this season, with
the first fixture of 2009 being an FA Cup third round tie on Saturday January 3.
Rovers take on last season's 'double' winners at Old Trafford on Saturday
February 21, before visiting their Manchester rivals at Eastlands on Saturday
May 2.
Rovers end the season at home to Championship champions West Bromwich Albion on
Sunday May 24.
Please note that fixtures are subject to change. The television selections for
the period up to November 30 will begin to take place from today and it is
expected that this process will be completed by July 3.
