Hi Ruben. Which players have helped you settle into life at Blackburn the
most and how do you think you have settled in since moving from Spain? (Scott
from Halesowen)
Michel has helped me with everything and, last season, Roque Santa Cruz was
also a big help. I am very happy to be here and I think that everything is
good for the team. It is obviously very different here in Blackburn to what
it was like back in Barcelona. The main difference is the weather! The
weather in Barcelona is good and here, it is ok! A bit too cold! But I am
enjoying my life living in Manchester.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off - great to see such a talent in the blue-and-white halves! What was
the main reason for you joining our great club and what has been the best
experience at the club so far? What are your personal goals for this season?
(Magnus F. Joensen, Faroe Islands)
I think that Blackburn Rovers is an important team in the Premier League and
it's a new experience for me. And I felt that I needed a change from
Barcelona, because my situation was not too good. So when Blackburn Rovers
came in for me, I didn't have to think about it, I just wanted to come.
My best experience is everything! It's speaking a new language, it's meeting
new players, working for a new manager - everything! I am happy for
everything! For me, the most important moment was playing my first game
against Fulham. When I went onto that pitch, I was very happy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Had you always wanted to play in the Premier League? (Aimes Pardew, Blackburn)
The Premier League is a different style from Spain. In Spain, there is more
play on the ball, whereas here it is more physical, but I don't mind that.
It's good for me to learn that side of the game and I am pleased to play here
in England.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it a hard decision leaving the glamour of Barca for Rovers? (Alex Holmes,
Harare, Zimbabwe)
To be honest, not too much. Because when I was in Barcelona's B team, it
wasn't a good moment for me. The manager didn't think I should play, which
was fine, but I wanted to play more, so I needed a change of club. So the
decision to come here was not a difficult one.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you set yourself any targets for the coming season? (Chris Baker,
Somerset)
My aims for this season are just to play as many games as possible. The more
games I play, the better it is for me. I am a player who needs to play games
in order to stay on top of my game. If I play, I would like to score at least
five or six goals.

Hi Ruben, do you like Rovers' club motto 'Arte et Labore'? I think 'Skill and
Hard Work' says so much about the way Rovers play this wonderful game. With
the skill you and the rest of the team have and the good honest hard work you
put into your game, you'll richly deserve all the wins you achieve this
season. Go for it! (Richard Archer, Kent)
Yes. I think in football, it is important to have hard work, whether you play
for Blackburn Rovers or any team. In a good team, you need two types of
players - a mix of young and skilful players, with older, more experienced
players. And I think we've got that.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is your favourite position and why? (Lee Walsh, Blackburn)
Behind the striker is best for me. Because I like to play with the ball and
to move around the space that is there. I also like to shoot from outside the
area and to give the ball to the striker and to other players.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which player at Rovers has the closest footballing style to your former
Barcelona team-mates, such as Xavi and Iniesta? (Fan Sung, Hong Kong)
Here, I would say Dunny or Mauro. Every player here is a good passer and good
technically, but those two play with the most similar style.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Ruben. Do you see your role within the squad as more of a goal scorer or
as a player who provides assists? Good luck for the season. (Ben Targett,
Kent)
I don't know, but I think both. I can score and I can pass the ball. I
wouldn't like to choose.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you were young, who did you pretend to be in the playground? (Ione
Smith, Blackburn)
I never had one player that I wanted to be like. I liked many players, like
Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, but not only one. I always looked at many of the top
players.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How hard has it been to learn a new language and how have the club helped you
to improve your English? (Andy Smith, Preston)
It's difficult when you change language. Before I came here to England, I
didn't speak anything and now I can speak a little. The first three months
were difficult, because you can't do anything. You can't speak with the
players or with the manager, but with time, you learn the language and now it
is better, but I still need more time. At the moment I'm not having any
lessons, but next month I want to start having lessons again, for one hour
every day. I had lessons when I first arrived, but not too much. I tried to
speak with the players and listened to what they said. I learnt a little at
school, but there is too much difference between there and the conversations
here. Steve Kean has helped, because sometimes he can explain to me in
Spanish, but my big help is Michel!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you get to train much with the Barcelona first team and with the likes of
Lionel Messi and their other great players? (Lauren Hardy, Ribchester)
Yes. The other players are fantastic - always helping the young players.
Obviously, you learn from them and if you lose the ball, it's no problem.
They have some fantastic players, who always helped me and the other young
players. And Messi is special. He is the best player in the world. But he is
quiet. He doesn't speak too much with the other young players, but he is a
very good player.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What do you think about more Spanish players joining the Premier League?
(Simon Rome, Madrid)
I think it's good for the Premier League, because now the Spanish national
team is a good team, with a good style. I think the players are coming to
England because right now, the football in Spain is not so good. There is
better money available in England and right now, I think the Premier league
is the best league in the world.
