Blue Jays option Clark, recall Pond

TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays recalled outfielder
Simon Pond from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday night and
optioned infielder Howie Clark to their top minor league team.
Clark hit .222 in 15 games with Toronto. The Blue Jays acquired
infielder Frank Menechino from Oakland in a trade Wednesday and
had no room for Clark.
Pond, a Canadian, made the team out of spring training, but was optioned to
Syracuse after striking out in three at-bats. He hit .276 with three home
runs and 12 RBIs at Syracuse.
``Simon's been swinging the bat pretty good down there and he has more power,''
Toronto manager Carlos Tosca said.
