As a whole, Toronto's pitchers posted a 3.40 ERA, which was the best mark in the American League for July. The team debated between moving Marcum and reliever Casey Janssen into a starting spot. Both pitchers made a handful of starts for the Jays last season, and each had a sound case for filling the same role again this year.
