Jays sign Corey Patterson to minor-league deal The signing of outfielder Corey Patterson by the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday is another low-cost, low-risk move by general manager Alex Anthopoulos to provide his team with some roster depth heading into the 2011 season. The 11-year Major League Baseball veteran was among six players who agreed to terms with the Jays on minor-league deals with invites to spring training camp in February. The American League club also signed right-handed pitcher Winston Abreu, catcher Ryan Budde, left-handed pitcher Sean Henn, left-handed pitcher Mike Hinckley and right-handed pitcher Brian Stokes. Patterson, 31, is the best-known of the lot, having spent time in the big leagues with the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles.
