BREAKING NEWS: BLUE JAYS ACQUIRE JUSTIN SPEIER

The Blue Jays continued their offseason arms collection by
completing a three-team trade that landed them right-handed
reliever Justin Speier on Sunday. The Blue Jays obtained
Speier from Colorado for lefty Mark Hendrickson and a
player to be named. The Rockies sent Hendrickson to the
Tampa Bay Devil Rays in return for left-handed starter Joe
Kennedy.
Speier, 30, will join Aquilino Lopez and the recently
signed Kerry Ligtenberg to provide late-inning relief for
Toronto. Speier spent the last three years with the
Rockies, pitching in 72 games in 2003 and finishing with a
4.05 ERA, 3.38 away from Coors Field.
