[森巴] Goal.com-Player Ratings: USA 0-2 Brazil
Brasil:
Victor-7.5
Didn't see much action but was always quick off his line, and provided
stability.
Andre Santos-8.5
Some barnstorming runs down the wing and some great crosses - plus he wasn't
bad at the back, either. An exuberant showing.
David Luiz-8.0
Showed flashes of inexperience, culminating in a booking, yet one can easily
see the potential, and there's no denying his comfort on the ball. Good
tackling, too.
Thiago Silva-7.0
Lost his position a couple of times at crosses - but so did Luiz. A fine
showing otherwise.
Daniel Alves-6.5
Provided one of the best opportunities of the game with typically dynamic
attacking play. Strangely quiet in the second half.
Lucas-7.0
Kept things moving and never really looked troubled by what he was up against.
Ramires-6.5
Not his best performance, but sprung a few good passes against his statuesque
opponents. Kept the opposition shackled, too.
Paulo Henrique Ganso-8.5
A breakout star. Yet another Santos youngster, Ganso made his first cap look
like his fiftieth. An absolute joy to watch, and he was unlucky to bag a goal
amidst his excellent possession play.
Neymar-Top of the Match 8.5
Well, it looks like the hype was right after all. His first cap and his first
goal in Selecao colours - with the right coaching he'll be able to add a lot
more, and against better opposition.
Alexandre Pato-7.5
A fine, assured performance from Pato, and one that will put him in good
stead with the new coach.
Robinho-8.5
It's lovely to see Robinho playing with a smile, and that's what happened
here. Through ball after through ball. Unlucky not to score.
‧ Substitutions:
Carlos Eduardo-6.5
Performed admirably despite having little time to warm up to replace the
injured Ederson.
Hernanes-N/A
Slotted into nicely to the gap left by Ramires, and is a real squad option.
Lazio have landed a real battler.
Jucilei-N/A
No time to make an impact.
Diego Tardelli-N/A
Barely saw the ball in his very brief time on the pitch.
Ederson-N/A
No sooner was he on than he was injured.
United States:
Tim Howard-6.5
Could do nothing about either of the goals. Removed at half time after a
decent showing. Taken off at the break.
Jonathan Bornstein-4.5
After a fine start, Bornstein faded badly and endured a torrid time against
the wide threat of the likes of Andre Santos. Was also at fault for the first
goal.
Carlos Bocanegra-5.0
Was unlucky to head a chance over the bar but at the end where it mattered -
his own - the veteran was found wanting. Not a confidence-inspiring
performance
Omar Gonzalez-6.5
The best of the back four by a long way. Enjoyed a good second half, even
though he shared in culpability for the first.
Jonathan Spector-5.5
Found himself stretched to the limits by Brazil's through balls and wide
switches, and didn't get forward nearly as much as he would have liked.
Benny Feilhaber-6.0
Enjoyed a good opening spell but quickly drifted into a pattern of
back-passing. Still more comfortable on the ball than most of his teammates.
Hooked at half-time.
Maurice Edu-Flop of the Match 4.0
Utterly anonymous in both a defensive and offensive context. A performance to
forget.
Michael Bradley-5.0
Had a goal disallowed and looked active in the first half, but couldn't
compete with the Brazilians when he didn't have the ball himself. Capable of
far, far better than this.
Alejandro Bedoya-6.0
Not an evening to remember for Bedoya but nor was this a disaster.
Landon Donovan-7.0
Showed some real touches of class and when he put his foot on the ball it was
clear that he had it in him to provide. Sprung some good balls down the
flanks but little came of them.
Edson Buddle-6.5
Didn't look confident but did OK with what service he was afforded. This team
didn't play to his strengths - nor he theirs. Off at half-time.
‧ Substitutions
Bradley Guzan-8.0
Far and away the best USA player to take to the pitch this evening. Kept the
score down as Brazil toyed with the rest of his team in the second period.
Sacha Kljestan-5.0
Threatened with a cross within moments of coming on but found his confidence
absolutely sapped thereafter, offering little.
Herculez Gomez-5.5
Didn't have much time to impress and didn't do a lot with it.
Robbie Findley-5.5
Replaced Donovan but couldn't add any attacking spark to his side.
Jozy Altidore-5.0
Had a couple of good runs down the flank but his artless touch let him down
time and again.
