[森巴] Player Ratings: Argentina 1-0 Brazil
Goal.com rates all the players from this afternoon's all South American clash
in Qatar...
By Daniel Edwards
Brazil:
Victor 6.5
Little to do until faced with Messi's unstoppable last-minute effort. Looked
solid enough for Brazil.
Andre Santos 6.5
A bright start from the left-back faded somewhat as the game went on, as
opposite number Zanetti started to nullify his threat. Still a potent danger
down the flanks.
Daniel Alves 8.0
Brazil's best player, Alves gave Heinze a torrid time down the right and was
also not found wanting when defending. Deserved more for his efforts.
David Luiz 7.0
The youngster dealt well with the threat of Messi and company, and also
nearly scored in the first half from a corner.
Thiago Silva 6.5
Equally solid at the back with Luiz, although tailed off a little towards the
end and couldn't keep up with Messi for the goal - but who can with 'la
Pulga' in full stride?
Elías 6.0
A little unsure of his position between the battling Ramires and the two
overlapping full-backs, did not have much chance to demonstrate the midfield
surges he is famous for in Brazil.
Lucas 6.5
Acquitted himself well in the midfield battle, but left flat-footed in the
build up to the decisive goal.
Ramires 8.0
Along with Dani Alves one of the best players on the pitch for Brazil.
Controlled Pastore and Messi admirably with his tough-tackling and
terrier-like marking attention. Perhaps not a coincidence that the goal only
came after he had left the pitch.
Neymar 6.5
Showed glimpses of his immense talent, but several unsuccessful approaches to
goal rebuffed by Romero for lack of positional awareness revealed his need to
gain experience as an international striker.
Robinho *Flop of the Match 6.0*
Quiet game from the Milan man, who was not as visible as his young strike
partner and was more or less muzzled by Burdisso.
Ronaldinho 7.0
Justified his selection with an accomplished if not spectacular performance
in attacking midfield. Should have opened the scoring in the first half but
attempted the crowd-pleasing over the pragmatic.
‧ Substitutions
Douglas 6.0
Came on for Ronaldinho but the Gremio man had little opportunity to show his
skills, entering in a period of Argentine ascendency.
Jucilei N/A
A five minute cameo for Jucilei as replacement for the all-action Ramires
AndréN/A
The Dynamo Kiev striker replaced Neymar late on, but had little chance to
show what he could do.
