Ganso, 22, has been in conflict with Santos for several weeks after rejecting the club's final offer of a new contract, which was valued significantly lower than team-mate Neymar. He has since been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Gremio. Although his wages at Sao Paulo are thought to be equivalent to his current Santos earnings, DIS – who own 55% of the player's economic rights – were keen to move the player to a more comfortable environment. Sao Paulo will complete the transfer early next week, purchasing the 45% of Ganso's rights currently owned by Santos. However, it is thought they may present their new star addition to the club's fans on Saturday evening, ahead of the side's fixture with fellow Paulista side Portuguesa. Ganso is unlikely to make his debut for the club until November, due to a recent muscle injury, but it is thought that he will be given the club's No. 8 shirt when he eventually lines up for the Tricolor. Although it is still thought that Ganso will move on to Europe within the next couple of years, the move represents a major short-term coup for Sao Paulo, as well as the potential for future profit.
