Wigginton, 31, hit .285 with 23 homers and 58 RBI in 111 games for the Houston Astros last season. The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that the deal is pending a physical, which is expected to take place later this week. “I'm definitely excited,”Wigginton told the Sun.“When I was in Tampa, I enjoyed playing in the American League East. I believe it is the toughest division in baseball. You have to compete on a daily basis in that division and that's a lot of fun.” Wigginton has batted .270 with 110 home runs and 384 RBI over parts of seven career seasons with the Astros, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays. A third baseman for much of his career, Wigginton also can play first base, second base and the outfield.
