Ford. “We’re happy to announce that T.J.’s bruise has improved significantly since his last MRI three months ago,” said Harris, who made the announcement after consultation with team physicians and medical specialists. “The bruise has healed to the point where T.J. can resume standard basketball activities, including running, shooting and light weight-work.” Ford was with the team for their home game against Orlando on April 16 and, for the first time since his injury, was able to take part in shooting and running drills. At this point, however, doctors have not yet cleared Ford for any physical contact. Following his light workout on April 16, Ford addressed the media. Here's what he had to say: On how it feels to be back on the court… It feels good. It’s been a whole year that I haven’t been able to touch a basketball and run up and down the court. Today was my first day to being able to get back on the court and do what I love to do. On what he did on the court… I did a lot of conditioning. A lot of shooting. Just trying to get my wind back , make sure that I continue to do my rehab. Basically, normal things I'd do even without the injury. On if he has touched a basketball before now… I've touched basketball every now and then. Make a pass or two. But, for the most part I didn’t really touch a basketball. I pretty much followed my doctor’s orders. That’s the only thing I could do, I didn’t want to risk doing anything I wasn’t supposed to do too early. Now I’m able to start working out and get back into the groove. On the mental parts of not playing basketball… It was tough. I think it was tough in the beginning, being with the team and around the things the team does. I’m still part of the team, but really, I wasn’t pretty much part of the team because I wasn’t really able to interact with the guys when they were going through the scouting reports, the practices and things of that nature. It was hard not being able to participate. While they were practicing, I was in another area doing rehab. It was tough. On approaching the next season… I’m approaching it as, I know what’s good for myself and my body and nobody can tell me how my body is feeling. I know I’m not going to get it back all in one day, so it’s pretty much just trying to progress each day. I’m not trying to rush back. I’m not trying to be in full strength in May, I’m not trying to be full strength in June. The ultimate goal is to be full strength when the season comes. So that’s the main goal. On his reaction when he was cleared for non-contact activities… I was excited. I was excited to finally be able to touch a basketball with permission. To be able to run up and down the court, to work on the things I know I have to work on to get better. It was a big sigh of relief. At the same time I understand how much hard work I have to put in. No one can put that work in but myself. On if he ever thought that he wouldn’t be back on the court… Never. No. Last season, the beginning of this season, I thought I was going to play this season. But it wasn’t in the best interest of my rehabilitation. The whole time I knew I was going to come back the next season. It’s just basically being patient. I was able to go home, relax, and continue to take my mind off of things that were here and good things happened. On what he did when he wasn’t with the team… I continued to do my rehab. I was around my family and friends and I was able to start a foundation, the T.J. Ford foundation. I was able to do a lot of things. I was working with a lot of young kids. On his teammates’ reaction… Guys seemed excited today. With the way the season has been going and being out of the playoffs. It’s something I’ve never experienced in my career. From what I understand, the locker room since the news has been great and guys have been really excited. On teaming up with Mo down the road… Down the road…It all depends on what goes on in the off season. We have a lot of free agents so we’ll see how things play out. On how his shot is… My shot is great. I didn’t lose anything just because I’ve been out for a year. I didn’t lose my game. I’m just a lot smarter. On if this has helped him think about what he needs to do to improve… Of course. I think I have an edge when I come back. Being on the side and being able to appreciate the game. You really have to play each game like it’s your last. On what will be the hardest thing coming back… I don’t think anything is going to be tough. The toughest thing is, with all the work I put in, see what my body handles and how my body reacts. That’s the only hard thing I have to deal with is how my body is going to react to all the hard work I put in. Running, shooting, that’s something I haven’t done in over a year. Depending upon how my body reacts, I’ll have a good sign tomorrow when I wake up. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.73.6.50
