But while Rodriguez may be finding his stroke, it's Wang who has truly broken
onto the scene. Damon said Wang has been as good as ace Mike Mussina during

"He can do that," Yankees captain Derek Jeter said of Wang."He's been pitching

manager Joe Torre said of the 26-year-old Wang. "The only thing you keep an eye

For the past month, manager Joe Torre repeated the quote that he doesn't like
to expect Wang to pitch seven or eight strong innings every time goes out
because the 26-year-old Taiwan native is so young. Finally, even he had to
surrender.
在過去的一個月中,TORRE不斷引述他說過的話："他不喜歡每場比賽都去期待
王建民可以投滿七到八局,因為他還只是個台灣來的26歲小夥子" 最後他都不得不認輸.
"I guess I have to be beyond that, because when I send him out there the only
thing you keep an eye on is the pitch count," Torre said.

Torre said he was tempted to leave Wang in, but that after topping 100 pitches
for the second straight game, and in New York's sweltering heat, enough was
enough. Wang, as usual, didn't want to come out.

百球的投球數跟紐約悶熱的天氣阻止了他,我說對他說夠了就是夠了". 即使王建民一如往

As Wang walked through the dugout toward the clubhouse after being told his
night was finished against his wishes, Torre said, "What are you doing,
quitting?"
當王準備要走出休息區到後面屋子(應該又要去沖澡!)的時候,經過了 Torre旁邊
Torre跟他說:你要幹麻??? 你不幹了喔???!!!
Wang smiled at Torre and pointed to the man sitting next to him, pitching
coach Ron Guidry, and shot back in his quiet tone, "He told me I had enough."
王笑著並用手指著他旁邊的投手教練 Ron Guidry,很快的用言語反擊回去:
是他說的!! 他說我今天已經投的很夠了!
"After five minutes (Guidry) said no more," Wang said.
"That was OK. This game and the last game, I threw more than
100 (pitches)."

Torre admitted he was tempted to leave Wang in the game. Asked if Wang's
pitch count was too high, Torre said: "It wasn't high, but it could've
gotten high. It (taking him out) was probably the smartest thing to do."
The starter was not complaining.
"This," Wang said, "has been a lot of fun."
Torre賽後承認說他想讓小王繼續投下去。當被問到小王的投球數會不會太多了，Torre
答道："還不算太多啦，但如果讓他投下去有可能變很多，我想把他換下去也許是一個

"Before, sometimes my arm dropped down. Now, I stay on top," Wang said,
adding that he's having "a lot of fun."

"Gator (Guidry) told me to stay back and don't throw too hard," Wang said of
his adjustment following the second inning.

十一局洋基敗。傷兵 Cano 歸隊，貢獻五之三的表現。
賽前分析
"That's my man, Wang," Jeter said with a smile. "We're teaching him English.
He's got a great personality and he's got a great sense of humor."

"Everybody in here is nice," Wang said.

"I think I'm better at throwing it than last year," Wang said. "Before, I had a
finger problem. The skin was too soft."

"He doesn't like to be taken out of a game," Guidry said. "He always asks to go
back out. If he'd had 85-90 pitches, I would've let him go back out. I know he
didn't like it then, but it was forgotten by the next day."

Manager Joe Torre said that Wang "never really changes his demeanor. He just

"He was due for one of those games, even though you never like to look
forward to it," Torre said. "He never gave up; he kept battling."

Wang said he was opening his front shoulder too soon in his delivery,
and his arm angle was inconsistent, causing his sinker to flatten.

to it,” Manager Joe Torre said of Wang, who came into the game with an
18-inning scoreless streak. “But he never gave up.”

本場摘要：小王在5 又1/3 局的投球被打出生涯新高的13支安打，在7月初之後首次嘗到
敗投。 洋基則再度面對菜鳥 Weaver六局只打下一分敗戰。
"It wasn't really that big of a hole," Derek Jeter said. "Wang didn't do that
bad. ... We just couldn't do anything to Weaver."
"其實我們今天投手的表現還好," Jeter說: "小王投的沒那麼糟. ...只是我們拿Weaver
的球沒輒. "
"He did a good job getting out of that," Derek Jeter said. "It seems
like everything they hit in the first inning found a hole."
Derek Jeter說：「阿民投的很好，只是球好像都會找洞鑽出去」
"I actually thought [Wang] did a decent job," said Johnny Damon, who went
0-for-3 with three strikeouts. "It's our job to pick him up. Unfortunately we
didn't do that today."

“He was throwing a lot of pitches down in the zone,” catcher Jorge Posada
said. “And they were taking a lot of pitches. It seemed like they had a
good game plan against him.”
王如同以往一樣,靠他的伸卡製造出了很多滾地球,但是天使隊把他修理得很慘
而且球都會往空隙跑. 捕手Posada說: 他投了很多低角度的球,而對手們也讓他花了很多球
數.看起來他們早有一套做戰計畫來針對他.
"He executed real well, the ball was just finding holes," catcher Jorge
Posada said.
Posada說：「其實他投的很好，只是球都找洞鑽出去罷了。」
-- After a third straight hit and second roller through the infield in
the first inning, Jorge Posada walked to the mound and put his arm around
Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang."He said, 'Nothing's wrong. They're just
hitting the ball in the hole,'" Wang said.
一局上半, 在接連被敲出三支安打並丟掉兩分後, Posada走上投手丘, 拍拍小王的肩膀.
"他對我說: 你投的不錯. 只不過這些滾地球都剛好找到縫隙穿出去而已." 小王說道.
"When you go into a little bit of a lull like he's been in the past couple
times, you don't want him to stay there, but it's not a concern," Torre said.
"如果是以前你看到小王像今天這樣一開始便陷入危機, 你可能還會有股想要換投的衝動.
但是現在不會了." Torre說.
"He got ground balls -- ground balls in the hole, back through the middle,"
Torre said. "There's not much you can do about it. ... I'm not worried
about him."

In that game, Wang’s arm angle was inconsistent. He said he was the victim of
bad luck yesterday, not poor mechanics or an injury.“It’s the way this game i
s,” the soft-spoken Wang said through an interpreter. “The ball finds a hole.

☆特別記事☆ 王建民公開信即日起拒絕任何台灣媒體採訪 8/17
紐約時報於報導中提到洋基隊投手王建民的身世，報導中，王建民是
以很正面的方式敘述。但之後引發若干媒體在台灣追逐八卦養子新聞
，影響家人生活。
因此，王建民為此感到難過，對腦殘媒體感到非常失望，因此以親筆
公開信的方式表示，即日起不再接受任何台灣媒體採訪，請媒體將重
點置於他在球場上的表現，不要再騷擾他的家人。

本場摘要：先發面對紅襪關鍵雙重賽取首勝，本季好壞球比例最糟的一場比賽。
本季首度飛球出局高於滾地球，配球出現較大的改變，伸卡球比重降低。
Loretta 和 Hinske 面對小王各打出三支二壘打，Ramirez 陽春全壘打。
Damon 面對老東家狂轟猛炸，外帶關鍵性美技守備。
"You don't win games if you don't get timely hits, and we didn't come up with
them today," Hinske said.
And Wang was the biggest reason why.
紅襪"新"司機今天打出三支二安，是少數紅襪打者中不斷的打擊王仔的人。新司機說
"如果沒有適時的安打就你就沒辦法贏得比賽，而我們今天就是少了這些支援"。而王仔
就是最大的關鍵。
"His off-speed pitches are better than we have seen in the past," Boston
manager Terry Francona said.

"When he got in trouble, he just really beared down and got to pitching.
That's all you want to ask for," catcher Jorge Posada said. "I think his
location was better (when in jams). He uses the hitters' aggressiveness

amount of damage, and they scored three innings in a row and they had chances
to score a lot, but he didn't give in."

Wang was extra careful with Ramirez in the two at-bats before the
slugger's solo home run, falling behind 2-and-0 and 3-and-0 with
Mark Loretta on second both times before issuing intentional walks.
"It didn't look like he wanted any part of Manny, not that I can
blame him," Torre said. "You don't want to say, 'It's 2-0, here it is
Manny, hit it.' I'm not comfortable doing it [walking Ramirez] but it
turned out OK."
小王前兩度在面對Ramires時都非常小心, 這兩次二壘壘包上都有Mark Loretta,
小王在零好二壞及零好三壞的情況下, 都故意保送Ramires, 填滿一壘壘包. Torre
對此表示看法說, 小王看來不想在這種情況下對決Ramires, 我不怪他, 你總不
能在球數大量落後的情況下去跟Manny火拼. 但我並不滿意小王保送他, 幸好結
果還不錯.小王第三次面對Ramires時, 球就被掃出去了
"Wang, as inexperienced as he is, to be able to do what he did today with men
in scoring position and good hitters at the plate," Torre said, "I was very
proud."
Torre說：「向王建民這樣的新手今天在得分圈上有跑者，而打擊區有強打的狀況下能
有如此的表現，我感到很驕傲。」
"I thought he battled, probably not his best stuff, but I thought he hung
tight and tough and he came out with the victory," Yankees manager Joe Torre
said of his starter, who improved to 14-5 in his breakout season. "For as
inexperienced as he is, to be able to do what he did today with men in
scoring position and good hitters at the plate, I was very proud. He pitched
Ortiz tough, which certainly helps you a little bit."
洋基的總教練好人托瑞對這位今年戰績大突破為14勝5敗的先發投手說"我認為他盡全力了

"He left it to the manager to make the decision," Torre said. "You certainly
don't want to say, 'Here Manny, it's 2-0, go ahead and hit it,' because we've
seen that too often. He wanted to be careful and he wanted him to throw a pitch
he could keep in the ballpark."
托瑞說"他讓教練來下決定。你當然不會想說'嘿！Manny！現在是兩壞球囉，投給你打吧！

"The first time, 3-0, I just didn't want to do it," Torre said. "Both times
were two outs. I'm not comfortable doing it, but it turned out all right."
Wang, who was 0-2 with a 6.62 ERA in three career starts at Fenway, felt like
a different pitcher on Friday.
托瑞說"第一次的時候是3壞球，我並不想故意四壞。不過兩次都是兩出局的時候發生。雖

Said manager Joe Torre: "He looked like he was trying to be extra
careful early and paid the price a bit, but we kept the damage to a
minimum.
"The last thing you want to do in this ballpark is walk people and put
people on base. But we did it with Manny twice just because it looked
like Wang didn't want any part of him. And I don't blame him."
Torre說：

"I was more comfortable and I used my slider more," said Wang, who stayed away
from his sinker for the most part and stuck to the game plan devised by catcher
Jorge Posada and pitching coach Ron Guidry.

That was Wang’s plan, too, as it always is. He throws a hard fastball —
96 miles an hour — and can also throw a slider. But mostly, he trusts
his sinker, a pitch that rarely lets him down.
“He’s sort of like a knuckleball pitcher,” Torre said. “They know what’s
coming and it still doesn’t do them any good, because the degree of sink
varies from pitch to pitch. It’s so tough to gauge him.”
