We tried to make sure he (Wang) throws a lot of fastballs inside to
the left handed hitters. We've been working on that all spring. The slider
was outstanding today. There were some splities (splitters) but the slider is
the main key.
John Flaherty:
He is throwing a lot more 4-seam fastballs. The fastballs inside on a lefty
are mostly 4-seam. So that has changed. I think the game plan has changed.
Still, he is a sinker ball pitcher. His slider got noticeably better from
last year.
Joe Girardi:
(Kim Jones: When Chien-Ming Wang has everything working for him like that and pitch in
like that, how dangerous can he be, how good can he be?)
Joe: He (Wang) can be really good. He was getting a lot of ground balls and I
thought his slider is pretty sharp today as well. For Chien-Ming Wang, you
know you will get a lot of fastballs as a hitter and its location and it
sinks. He has both of those today.

Ｗe were using Joba at the 7th and Farnsy for the 8th.
Joba got 3 quick outs so we used him in the 8th as well.
